Though there are many skin care lines out there with high-voltage names attached, not everyone has an advantage of acreage. But Brad Pitt does. He has the Château Miraval, the now-famous estate in the South of France.
In an interview with British Vogue, Pitt addressed how Le Domaine, his new skin care for all brand, is planning to stand out in a saturated market. “Through the ages, Château Miraval has always been this hub of creativity, it has so many places within it where you want to sit and think and expand and explore, and make beautiful things,” he said. “I know there are new products nearly every day that people are trying to launch, but if I hadn’t seen a real difference visually in my skin, we wouldn’t have bothered.”
Pitt made the line in partnership with the Perrin family, who also work with the actor on the very popular Château Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé (besides the grape-based products, the estate, per Pitt, also produces a luxury-foods trifecta: honey, truffles, and olive oil). Their skin care products are a Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre blend (plus some other patented and highly scientific-sounding active ingredients).
In the article and subsequent interviews Vogue posted on Instagram, Pitt took some time to shout out friends, who happen to be very famous. When he was encouraged to demonstrate his new products, without making it “too QVC,” he spun up a forgotten script of a movie: “I wouldn’t know how to do that, unless it was a comedy. Actually, Sandy [Bullock] and I did once try to develop a whole idea of a husband and wife team, who were QVC’s most successful salespeople, but we’re getting a divorce, we hate each other, and we’re taking it out on air as we sell things…That’s as far as we got.”
Pitt finally conceded that George Clooney, his friend in pranks and other male-bonding techniques, is hot. “If I was gonna name someone present, well I gotta name that George Clooney f–ker, because why not?” Pitt said. “Because usually, I’m always taking him out, and he’s always taking me out. And this time, I’m gonna go the other way, just this once.”

And, in the original article, he shouted out his ex-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow, Goop magnate. “I love what Gwyneth’s done. She is still a really dear friend, and she has built this empire. She has always had that in her as a curator, and it’s been a lovely creative outlet for her. In fact, come to think about it, she was probably the first one who got me to even wash my face twice a day…maybe.”
The interview never waves at some of the issues beneath the surface—or, in this case, I suppose the proper euphemism is beneath the terroir. Pitt and Jolie purchased a controlling stake in Château Miraval, a vineyard estate in the South of France, in 2008. They were married there in 2014, and after they separated in 2016, onlookers began to wonder what the fate of Miraval would be. By 2019, it became clear that the estate would become a point of contention.
