People began to gather across the U.K. when news broke of the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday. In the days since, well-wishers have left flowers, tribute poems, and even marmalade sandwiches in honor of the late monarch. Though King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla have done plenty of their mourning in ceremonies with the public, many members of the family have been mourning the loss privately, some gathered at Balmoral Castle where the queen died. Over the weekend, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Princess Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice were spotted taking in the tributes in Scotland. In addition, Prince William and Kate Middleton had a long-awaited reunion with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday.
In the statements and messages that the family has already made, they have emphasized that the queen was both a figurehead for the entire country and a stalwart and lively family member, and that they will miss her in both roles.
Here are the moments where they have thanked the country that is mourning alongside them.
